Security, the most important term nowadays, isn’t it. Data security is critical for most businesses and even home computer users. There are many personel files in our computer which must be remain private which we can’t even afford to share with our friends. Unauthorised access to the information on your computer or portable storage devices can be carried out by your friends or any other person who have permit to access your computer. Client information, payment information, personal files, bank account details, porn material – all of this information can be hard to replace and potentially dangerous if it falls into the wrong hands. Data lost due to disasters such as a flood or fire is crushing, but losing it to hackers or a malware infection can have much greater consequences.

There are a lot of methods that you can use to create a password protected folder, most of which require the use of some third party software. Using this neat method you can hide your folders with a quick batch script.

Step By Step Guide. How to Password Protect a Folder ?

  • Choose the Folder : First step is to choose which folder you want to lock. Now go inside of that folder you want to lock. There you have to create a Text Document by Right Click, then New and then Text Document. Name it what you want, For eg. Locker, FolderLocker etc. Now Copy the entire code shown below into that text file.1_FolderlockerCode Shown Below !

title (dare to share)
if EXIST “Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}” goto UNLOCK
if NOT EXIST MyFolder goto MDMyFolder
echo Are you sure to lock this folder? (Y/N)
set/p “cho=>”
if %cho%==Y goto LOCK
if %cho%==y goto LOCK
if %cho%==n goto END
if %cho%==N goto END
echo Invalid choice.
ren MyFolder “Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}”
attrib +h +s “Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}”
echo Folder locked
goto End
echo Enter password to Unlock Your Secure Folder
set/p “pass=>”
if NOT %pass%== goto FAIL
attrib -h -s “Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}”
ren “Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}” MyFolder
echo Folder Unlocked successfully
goto End
echo Invalid password
goto end
md MyFolder
echo MyFolder created successfully
goto End

  • Change the extension from .txt to .bat : The File you created in the first step is a Text file and we have to change it to Windows Batch file for hack work. For doing so Just change the extension of file from .txt to .bat by Rename (Right Click on that file and Rename). 2_Folderlocker
  • Run .bat file : After successfully changing the extension its time to Run that windows batch file. To Run just double click on that file. A new folder named “MyFolder” will be made automatically in the same folder you made the .bat file. MyFolder will act as locker for you in which you can copy/transfer all of your data and files you want to password protect. I have copied all my hacking files into MyFolder.3_Folderlocker
  • Lock the MyFolder : Now its time to lock the MyFolder where all of our secret files are already placed. To Lock it just double click on the .bat file you made and a command prompt window will pop up which will ask if you want to lock the folder or not. For locking type “y” or “Y” and then press Enter key. Now Magic !, your “MyFolder” will be invisible to you or any other person and your files are secure in that folder.4_Folderlocker
  • Unlocking the MyFolder : To unlock Myfolder you have to again Run the .bat file the same way we already did back. This time it will ask for password to unlock it. The Password I have put in the code is “” , Type it and then press Enter, your MyFolder will be visible to you now that means its unlocked now. Isn’t a cool hack ! 5_FolderlockerTut Ends !

How To Further Secure ?

You might be thinking that anyone can access the password by opening that .bat file in Notepad or any other text editor. To make it more secure hide .bat file in some secure location after following the above tutorial. To access the secured file double click on .bat file. I would suggest copying .bat file into Pendrive and copying it into your computer whenever you required to access to your protected files.

How To Change the Pass if you forget ?

Just open that .bat file with NotePad or any other Text editor and change the Password in the Code. Find this line in the code and put your new password and save it.

if NOT %pass%== Change your pass here goto FAIL

You can also edit the Title of the Command Prompt in the similar way. Do it yourself, its Easy and fun.

NOTE : This Trick works 100% in Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10.
